What a difference a vaccine makes

The rate of COVID-19 cases at Forest Manor have dropped dramatically since  residents and staff began receiving the Moderna vaccine at the end of December. It has been over a month since a Forest Manor resident has tested positive for the coronavirus.  

“Close to 100% of our residents have now been vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine. Technicians from CVS Pharmacy were onsite and finished administering the second dose to residents on February 22,” said Clay Pere, Forest Manor administrator, who added that since then, there have been no COVID cases among fully vaccinated patients.

To maintain protections for residents, Forest Manor is able to schedule vaccine appointments for new residents at either CVS or a nearby Ochsner drive-thru vaccine clinic nearby.  “The vaccine has been extremely effective in protecting our community,” Pere said.  “We are eager to allow family visitations and are waiting on the state to issue guidelines and instructions.”
